What This Means For You

A Practical Route Towards Higher Education

Qualifi qualifications are regulated by Ofqual and carry formal academic credits recognised within the United Kingdom’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). Your achievements can be used to progress towards university degree programmes through advanced entry, direct admission, or recognition of prior learning.

Advanced Entry

Your regulated qualification may help you apply for entry beyond the first year of a relevant degree, depending on the university’s requirements and your credit profile.

RPL / APEL

Universities can assess your regulated qualifications and professional experience through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

UK & International

Progression opportunities include UK universities and international institutions that recognise Ofqual-regulated qualifications for admission purposes.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I go to university directly after Level 4?

Level 4 alone does not typically meet the full credit requirement for direct entry into a top-up degree. We recommend completing Level 5 first to maximise your university progression options. However, some universities may consider Level 4 for advanced standing via RPL, particularly with significant industry experience.

What is the best degree for aesthetic practitioners?

The UCB Aesthetics BA (Hons) Top-Up is the most directly relevant degree for CFMSR students. It is a one-year full-time programme specifically designed for aesthetic practitioners, covering aesthetic identity, sustainability, business management, and training enterprise.

Do I need to be a healthcare professional for Level 7 university progression?

MSc Aesthetic Medicine programmes (UWS, QMUL) typically require registration with a UK healthcare regulatory body. Non-registered practitioners can still progress by first obtaining a bachelor’s degree via a top-up route and then applying for postgraduate programmes, or by pursuing business-focused MSc programmes.

What is RPL / APEL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) are formal processes universities use to assess your existing qualifications and professional experience for credit toward a degree. Your Ofqual-regulated Qualifi qualifications carry formal academic credit that universities are required to consider.

Are these qualifications recognised internationally?

Yes. Qualifi qualifications are regulated by Ofqual and sit within the UK’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). They are recognised by universities in the UK and internationally, including institutions in Australia, the Middle East, and Europe.

How many credits do I need for a top-up degree?

Most top-up degrees require 240 credits (120 at Level 4 plus 120 at Level 5). While CFMSR qualifications alone may not reach 240 credits, universities assess applications holistically — considering your regulated qualifications, professional experience, and portfolio. Many partner universities accept applications via RPL/APEL.

Compliance note: University progression is not guaranteed. Entry depends on the qualification completed, credits achieved, subject relevance, portfolio, professional background, English language requirements and each university’s admissions policy. Information on this page is based on research conducted in 2025–2026 and should be verified directly with each university before applying.
